For years, the financial industry has been told that data is its most valuable asset. Banks have invested accordingly. They have built vast warehouses to store it, elaborate pipelines to move it, and intricate governance frameworks to control it. They have hired thousands of data professionals. They have spent billions on technology. They have reorganised themselves around the conviction that data, managed well, would transform everything.
