The palace rose before them like a dream made real, its white marble walls gleaming in the light of the setting sun. Amber stood at the window of the Rolls Royce, her breath catching in her throat as they crossed the private bridge to the island. She had seen palaces before. She had grown up in one. But this was different. This was not a monument to tradition and duty. This was a sanctuary. A home. Hers.
The island itself was a jewel set in the turquoise waters of the Arabian Gulf. Palm trees lined the white sand beaches, their fronds swaying gently in the evening breeze. Bougainvillea cascaded over stone walls in explosions of magenta and crimson and coral. Fountains played in courtyards paved with mother of pearl, their waters catching the last rays of the sun and scattering them like diamonds. And everywhere, everywhere, there was the sense of peace. Of safety. Of a world that had been created for one purpose and one purpose only. To be the home of a dominant and his submissive. To be the sanctuary where their love could flourish without interference, without judgment, without the suffocating weight of tradition and expectation.
