
She admired his decisiveness from the very beginning. He chose the restaurant. He planned the dates. He had opinions and he expressed them clearly. When she was indecisive, he stepped in with a plan. When she was unsure, he offered direction. She found it attractive, this sense of being with a man who knew what he wanted and was not afraid to lead. It felt like safety. It felt like strength.
But over time, the leadership began to tighten. His opinions became expectations. His plans became non-negotiable. His direction became demands. When she disagreed with a decision, he would explain, patiently at first, why she was wrong. When she persisted, he would become cold. When she made her own choice against his wishes, he would punish her with silence or sarcasm. She realized, slowly and then all at once, that she was not being led. She was being managed.
