There will come a night when you feel it all slipping away again. You will have done the work. You will have listened, touched, apologized, and rebuilt. You will have tasted the sweetness of renewed intimacy, felt her body soften against yours once more, and believed with your whole heart that you had finally turned a corner. Then life will throw something at you. A crisis at work that consumes your every waking thought. A child who falls ill and requires sleepless nights of care. A parent whose health declines and demands your constant presence. An argument that flares up from nowhere and leaves both of you raw and retreating to separate corners of the bed. And in that moment, the darkness will whisper the thought you have been dreading. We are back to where we started. Nothing has really changed. Maybe we are broken after all.
